The Sidel Pama is a high-quality tunnel pasteurizer designed for beer, soft drinks, juices, sport drinks, isotonics and teas. Ergonomically engineered and built for operational reliability, the Pama uses the proprietary PRINCE control software to manage the pasteurisation process with high precision, reducing both water and steam consumption compared to conventional systems.
A tunnel pasteurizer heats filled and sealed containers to a defined pasteurisation unit (PU) target to destroy harmful microorganisms and extend product shelf life without affecting flavour or nutritional integrity. Containers move through a series of temperature-controlled water zones inside the tunnel. Precise temperature management is critical: too little heat leaves the product microbiologically unsafe; too much can impair product quality or cause packaging stress.
The Pama's PRINCE control software introduces a new approach to fresh water management in tunnel pasteurisation. During the pasteurisation control phase, cooling water for central tanks is drawn from adjacent tanks rather than fresh supply, saving significant volumes of fresh water per production run. PRINCE also optimises PU accumulation management for every start and stop sequence, always ensuring the required killing effect regardless of production interruptions.
The Pama tunnel pasteurizer is suitable for glass bottles, aluminium cans, PET containers and other sealed packaging formats. It supports a wide range of beverage categories including lager and craft beer, carbonated and still soft drinks, fruit juices and nectars, sport and energy drinks, isotonic beverages and ready-to-drink teas.
By recovering cooling water from adjacent tank zones, the Pama reduces fresh water consumption per batch. Steam usage is also optimised through PRINCE's precise temperature control, which avoids overheating. The combination of lower water and energy demand reduces operating costs and supports environmental compliance targets in beverage manufacturing.
