Preform conveyor

Sidel's PET preform conveyor is designed to transport preforms from bulk storage or feeder systems to the blow moulding machine while preserving their physical and dimensional integrity. Its horizontal design optimises line layout and reduces layout constraints around the blow moulder, while variable infeed speed capability supports both production start-up sequences and format changeovers without interrupting preform flow.

What is a PET preform conveyor?

A PET preform conveyor transports PET preforms - the injection-moulded intermediate form of a PET bottle - from the preform feeder or bulk storage system to the infeed of the blow moulding oven. Preforms are fragile: surface scratches, neck finish damage or deformation caused by rough handling will produce bottle quality defects downstream. A purpose-designed preform conveyor ensures smooth, controlled transport that preserves preform quality through to the blow moulding station.

Smooth passage and preform integrity

Sidel's preform conveyor guarantees a smooth passage through each transport stage, minimising mechanical contact and the risk of surface abrasion on the preform body or neck finish. Controlled conveying dynamics prevent preform-to-preform collisions that cause neck damage or gate scar abrasion, both of which can translate to visible bottle defects or blow moulding process instability.

Horizontal design and layout optimisation

The horizontal design simplifies line layout planning by reducing the vertical complexity of the infeed section and allowing flexible positioning relative to the blow moulder. This is particularly valuable when integrating the preform conveyor into existing production halls with limited headroom or compact line configurations.

Variable infeed speed and format changeovers

Variable infeed speed capability allows the preform conveyor to operate at reduced speed during line start-up, preventing overfeed at the blow moulder oven entrance. During format changeovers, infeed speed can be adjusted independently to match the new preform geometry and blow moulding process parameters.

Integration with EvoBLOW and Super Combi

Sidel's preform conveyor integrates directly with the EvoBLOW Regular blow moulding machine and with the preform feeder modules of Combi and Super Combi integrated systems, ensuring consistent preform handling across the full range of Sidel blowing solutions.
