Your opportunity

In the position, the Heavy Parts Quality Engineer will plan, design, optimize and monitor a manufacturing/fabrication quality process; provide to the work floor the quality documents; and help method engineer to ensure high quality manufactured parts efficiently in the most cost effective methods. Individual must operate on individual and collective initiatives working with technical engineers from various disciplines, and other professionals, in areas such as finance and health and safety.

Your Mission

  • Take charge of full-process quality control for the welding and machining procedures of large mechanical structural parts.
  • The scope covers the entire workflow including incoming material inspection, welding, flaw detection, machining (milling/boring/drilling/grinding), quality review & release, and finished product delivery.
  • Lead quality deviation analysis, process implementation, process improvement, customer inspection and issue closed-loop management to ensure the welding performance, dimensional accuracy and geometric tolerances of structural parts comply with drawing specifications and delivery standards.
  • Optimize quality procedures for the HP workshop and guarantee the effective operation of the quality management system.

Your Profile

1. Basic Requirements
a. College diploma or above, majoring in mechanical manufacturing, welding technology, material forming, quality management or related disciplines;
b. Over 3 years of working experience as a Quality Engineer responsible for welding and machining workshops of large structural components;
c. Familiar with the production process of heavy industry, construction machinery and frame steel structures;
Candidates with NDT non-destructive testing certificate or welding inspector certificate are preferred.

2. Core Professional Competencies
a. Welding Competence
- Familiar with welding characteristics of thick carbon steel and low-alloy steel plates; proficient in GMAW, SAW and SMAW processes;
- Skilled in implementing WPS/PQR documents independently; capable of judging and resolving welding quality defects such as welding deformation, cracks and failed NDT inspection;
- Well-versed in national standards for steel structure welding and acceptance criteria for weld grades.
b. Machining Competence
- Able to read mechanical part drawings, geometric tolerances and machining datums proficiently;
- Expert in common machining defects of large structural parts and their root causes; able to interpret machining procedures and identify problems with tooling, clamping and cutting parameters;
- Skilled in using a full set of measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators, levels and weld gauges.

Quality Control Competence
-Familiar with workshop process control logic, including first article inspection, patrol inspection, process traceability and non-conforming product control;
- Adept at independently handling quality non-conformities with quality analysis tools, with capabilities to prevent and improve batch quality issues.

3. Comprehensive Personal Qualities
- Strong on-site communication, coordination and execution skills with sound principles;
- Able to work on the production frontline long-term and identify hidden quality risks sensitively;
- High stress tolerance and able to adapt to workshop production rhythm;
- Proficient in Office software; capable of independently compiling quality reports, 8D reports, data analysis and account records;
- Understand basic procedures for quality issue analysis and fundamental root cause analysis tools.
