Britannia accelerates dairy beverage growth with Sidel’s Aseptic PET packaging technology

The challenge

Britannia required a complete aseptic PET solution capable of meeting three core needs. First, the company needed a reliable entry into aseptic PET that ensured robust sterilisation, validated packaging performance, and product integrity across multiple dairy SKUs. Second, a seamless installation was essential for its new greenfield dairy facility in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. Finally, flexible production capabilities were critical to allow smooth bottle format changes from 180ml to 1 litre while maintaining consistent efficiency and food safety.

The solution

Britannia selected Sidel based upon its four decades of aseptic PET expertise. Sidel installed a complete line equipped with the Aseptic Combi Predis. The solution, running at 24,000 bph, integrating preform sterilisation, blow moulding, filling and capping in a single hygienic process. Sidel also provided comprehensive services and support throughout the entire journey, including line design, technical planning, bottle and label design, packaging validation, filling tests and shelf‑life studies, ensuring full readiness for market launch.

The outcome

With Sidel’s aseptic solution, Britannia began delivering safe, high‑quality Winkin’ Cow beverages in PET from 2023. Thanks to dry preform decontamination, the line uses no water and almost no chemicals, helping Britannia reduce its environmental footprint. The line also offers strong sterility assurance, rapid changeovers between bottle sizes, minimal resource usage and a low total cost of ownership; enhancing sustainability, efficiency and portfolio expansion.

Sidel offered a comprehensive range of services, including new packaging concept design, packaging validation, label recommendations, custom filling tests and shelf-life studies. They provided everything we needed to enter the aseptic PET segment and bring our new product to market with maximum confidence.
