The new geometry of the completely flat StarLITE HPC base is expertly structured to achieve optimum performance: 

  • Improved tilt angle: a new anti-rock design based on a 360-degree continuous contact surface that can be combined with structural ribs and an oval push-up.
  • Better material distribution and no base sagging: thanks to the double sitting surface and balanced stretch ratios between the small and large sides.
  • Empty or filled container stability improved by up to 25%: better container stability on conveyors compared to existing major flat PET container bases increases production uptime while also enhancing consumer experience.

A more sustainable and cost-effective flat container

Suitable for both opaque and transparent PET resins, the smart, asymmetric, structured StarLITE HPC base design offers endless benefits for wide containers and is fully compliant with up to 100% rPET. The base also:

  • Prevents unexpected base roll-out thanks to its improved material distribution.
  • Offers lightweighting opportunities: i.e., a 0.5 g PET reduction for a 500 mL container base.
  • Improves base cooling during blow moulding: thanks to the enhanced base cooling engineering of its mould and tooling design, and the chance to prevent post-mould base cooling depending on bottle shape, format and weight.
  • Facilitates blowing and reduces blow moulding pressure by up to 10%: i.e., a 3 bar decrease for a 420 mL container.
  • Raises production output up to 15% higher than the market average, and can also increase process speed limits. For example, a flat container produced at 1,600 bottles per hour per mould (b/h/m) with a standard market base can be blown at up to 1,800 b/h/m with the StarLITE HPC base, and even reach up to 2,000 b/h/m depending on bottle shape.
  • Offers rapid payback in less than a year and reduces GHG emissions, following investment in a new set of StarLITE HPC base moulds.
  • Compatible with all generations of Sidel blow moulding machines: SBO EvoBLOW, SBO Universal, SBO Series2 and SBO Series1.
