SIDEL TO PRESENT LATEST INNOVATIONS AT IRAN FOOD + BEV TEC 2016 TO SUPPORT BEVERAGE PRODUCERS IN THE REGION

Taking place at the Tehran International Fairgroundsfrom 30 May to 2 June, Sidel will be presenting its innovations inequipment and services in PET liquid packaging that supportproducers in Iran and its surrounding regions.

 

Iran is an important market for Sidel and offers opportunitiesfor significant further growth for beverage producers, particularlyin light of the recent lifting of sanctions which are opening upcommercial markets. The soft drinks sector is a particular growtharea, with Iran representing 16% of the total volume for theGreater Middle East (GME) at 9 billion litres and forecast to growby an additional 2 billion litres from 2016 to 2020.  Theconsumption of bottled water is also growing, with projectionsindicating that Iran will achieve the highest compound annualgrowth rate (CAGR) in the GME region over the period 2015 to 2020at 12.9 per cent [1].

 

Food + Bev Tec Iran 2With this rising demand, Sidel will behighlighting its latest developments through which customers inIran can capitalise on the opportunities presented. This includesthe Sidel Matrix™ system for water, innovations in water, juice andnon-alcoholic beer PET packaging solutions, as well as value-addedservices regarding PET bottle design and original spare parts tohelp producers lower their total cost of ownership.  Sidel hasextensive experience in these beverage categories.  RecentSidel innovations for water include the development of SidelRightWeight™, a 0.5 litre PET water bottle which weighs only 7.95grams and represents a 34 per cent weight reduction compared to theaverage commercial bottle.  Juices, teas and sport drinks areone of the biggest growth areas globally and Sidel is at theforefront of innovations, providing tailored PET packagingsolutions to ensure that these sensitive beverages are handledsafely. Sidel's expertise has featured in many successful projectsin GME: these include working with a major producer of juices on anaseptic complete bottling line solution to introduce PET bottledjuices in the Iranian market; the upgrading of a water PET bottlingline in the UAE to achieve annual cost savings of 25 per cent; andthe first Sidel Matrix Combi system in Dubai, producing PET waterbottles in 330ml and 500ml formats at a speed of 22,500 bottles perhour.

 

Commenting on Sidel's participation at the event, HarbinderKathuria, Sidel's Regional Commercial Director for GME, said - "Thegrowth opportunities in the Iranian market are considerable,highlighted by an increase of 84 per cent in imports of food andbeverage processing and packaging equipment in recent years. Industry experts see the levels of Iranian imports easily doublingover the coming years."

Sidel will be exhibiting on Stand 38.4.11 as part of the FrenchPavilion at Iran Food & Bev Tec 2016 which will take place atthe Tehran International Fairgrounds from 30 May to 2 June. More than 500 exhibitors are expected to participate in thefour-day event in 2016, compared to 370 in 2015, with exhibitorsrepresenting over 20 countries, including 13 official nationalpavilions.
