Your Opportunity

Sidel is looking for a Safety Officer to support our projects throughout USA and Canada. The candidate must be able to travel 40-50% of the time to customers locations (projects) to perform continuous assessment of the safety plans prior to an installation and/or service. Perform inspections of project sites, to ensure a hazard-free environment inspection. He or She will be assisting Installation Site Managers and Project Managers during all phases of a project. Promoting safe practices on site and enforcing safety guidelines and programs

Your Mission

  • Be focal point of HSE&S function in each of Start-up project provide Safety expertise and link up Health, Safety, Environment, and security resource to assist the team to achieve HSE&S excellence during pre-comm. & start-up, and operations
  • Guide the team to prepare high risk activity work plan, provide Safety review of the plan, check field execution quality and intervene if unsafe situation or deviations from the plan or procedures
  • Conduct site visit during Installation and Start-ups. Carry out inspection of workplace to ensure compliance with group rules, execution of audits and consequent correction/improvement plan
  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
  • Assist in responding to and investigating concerns from workers/employers/customers
  • Assist owners on the intervention on RCAs for incident investigation, trend and analysis of near misses, accidents
  • Follow ups on weekly safety observations made by the Installation Site Manager, act when necessary
  • Interact with Sourcing for suppliers’ evaluations and correction plans
  • Conduct surveys with employees and sub-contractors on site, ensure all corporate guidelines and requirements are met (PPE, work at heights example)
  • Drive Communications and initiatives with other functions linked to H&S for employees
  • Provide regular reporting for status and escalate critical risk observations
  • Lead changes to encourage performance expectations for safe behaviour to guarantee employee safety
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualification Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Ability to maintain effective work relationships
  • Assist the project managers and ISMs to keep a safe environment for workers during all stages of a project. Having a proper safety plan to deliver a project on time and within its budget
  • Conduct safety training sessions on site safety when needed and provide feedback on performance
  • Ensuring employees are trained and have the necessary equipment and tools to safely complete their jobs, ensuring that procedures are followed, and reviewing safety records for employees and/or subcontractors
  • Monitor the work environment to ensure that safety standards are met by workers and contractors
  • Share incidents and good practices, improve workforce risk identification and mitigation capability
  • Ensure Sidel effectively implementing safety management systems to identify and control major hazardous source and mitigate risks to acceptable level, meet regulatory requirements
  • Guide the team to prepare high risk activity work plan, provide Safety review of the plan, check field execution quality and intervene if unsafe situation or deviations from the plan or procedures
  • Monitor Safety performance during operation activities, intervene unsafe actions and violation of standards, feedback to the team for improvement
  • Ensure the team is maintaining effective safe equipment guard or protection in place
  • Coordinate regulatory or authority safety inspection
  • Contribute and/or review the development of customer and Sidel Operation Procedures for Emergency Rescue and Response Plan, Turnaround Safety plan
  • Inspecting the site for potential hazards that may cause harm to people or damage to property
  • Monitor of all safety related documents, reports, and issues to keep them updated
  • Actively participate in Monthly EHS&S review

Your Profile

Level of education and languages:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
  • Fluent level of English / Spanish is a plus
 
Required experience and skills:
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) as safety officer
  • In depth knowledge of legislation of OSHA, EPA ANSI and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
  • Beverage Industry experience
  • H&S Certifications
  • Availability to travel up to 40% in USA and 10% internationally
  • Experience performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA and NFPA safety standards
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs, procedures, and protocols
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
  • Ability to investigate and analyse information and draw conclusions
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
