Sidel unveils new Combi for carbonated drinks

29.09.2006

With speed, filling precision, flexibility and accessibility, the Combi Eurotronica FM-C touts a number of performance enhancements. This new Sidel Combi for carbonated drinks combines blowing technology from Sidel™ with volumetric flow meter filling from Simonazzi™.

Since their merger, bringing together the best of Sidel and Simonazzi technologies has been the aim of the new Sidel Group that formed when these two companies joined forces. Thus, after nine months of development, the design departments from both companies have devised this new Combi for carbonated beverages. In a single machine, the Combi Eurotronica FM-C combines SBO Universal™ blowing technology and volumetric flow meter filling technology from Simonazzi™ with output rates up to 61,200 bottles per hour.

This new equipment benefits from Simonazzi’s proven expertise in the field, having already sold some fifty Eurotronica FM-C fillers. This technology has a number of impressive features. Each flow meter that measures the volume fed has its own printed circuit board that controls filling valve opening and closing and remains in constant dialogue, through infrared technology, with the machine’s central controller. This results in precision filling, quick and continuous data transmission as well as speed in carrying out setpoints sent to the filling valves. This Combi also incorporates the latest Sidel technologies such as bottle lightweighting made possible with the new petaloid base design. Pressure during the preform blowing process in the mold has now been reduced to 28 bars, which reduces energy consumption. In another technical advance, format changeover times are very short to better meet bottlers’ needs for increased versatility.
Finally, the filling part of the Combi Eurotronica FM-C is newly configured with the Combi enclosure now separate from the machine frame to improve accessibility and maintenance.

A comprehensive range
Suitable for carbonated drinks, this model is a valuable addition to the Sidel Combi range that also includes equipment for still beverages and sensitive products as well as edible oils and all types of liquids like sauces and detergents. The company will have sold over 200 Sidel Combi models by the end of 2006. The machines can be equipped with 6 to 34 blowing molds for output rates ranging from 10,000 to 61,200 bottles per hour.
Introduced in August 2006, the Combi Eurotronica FM-C is causing a stir. Major food industry groups have already shown keen interest in the new equipment.
