System architecture

The EIT™ system retrieves raw production data from any network-connectable PLC bringing information from the plant floor to the office environment.

The Web-based EIT™ 5.0 Version was developed according to industry standards and uses Microsoft ® Visual Studio.Net 2005 and the 2.0 framework.

Built with a three-tier client/server architecture to ensure scalability, EIT™ 5.0 uses an object oriented approach with proven design patterns. Mainly based on the Model-View-Controller (MVC) model, this software architecture separates the application’s data model, user interface and control logic into distinct components. The benefit of such an architecture is that modifications to one component do not substantially impact the others. This makes the application far more flexible so that it can be customized according to customer specification.

The EIT™ system is composed of two core modules. The EIT WRITER reads and collects data at the PLC level via an OPC server and records it in the plant database server. The EIT MANAGER is the system’s database configuration tool. Because the system is highly scalable, a whole range of additional modules can be added to the core duo in order to meet evolving needs.

The EIT™ system has integrated tools enabling users to easily maintain and update the application resulting in a low TCO.

Remote access to multiple production sites

Via an Intranet, VPN, WAN or a LAN connection, the Web-based application enables users to remotely connect to lines and production data in a timely manner. Getting real-time information on the plant floor has never been so easy.
