Sidel was awarded with the title of “Supplier of the Year” by South African Breweries Ltd. (SAB) in July. SAB is a subsidiary of SABMiller plc, one of the largest brewers in the world. Sidel was awarded with the title for the installation and commission of a Hydra Bottle Washer on Line 6 at the Prospecton Brewery of SAB in Durban, South Africa.

The Hydra Bottle Washer is designed for medium to high speed production (from 30,000 up to 120,000 bottles per hour for 500 ml bottles). Different types of infeed and discharge modules allow the machine to fit into various bottling line configurations. Furthermore, a vast range of options are available on the Hydra models to optimize use, control and maintenance. Since energy savings is a key issue in industrial plants, the Hydra series offer highly competitive performances in terms of reducing water, steam and soda consumptions. The bottle washer may be adapted by implementing differentiated stages in the prewashing area for countries with extreme climates.

For the provision of the Hydra equipment, Sidel was awarded “Supplier of the Year” at the “Brewers Breakfast” in July. The “Brewers Breakfast” is an annual event, which is hosted by SAB Prospecton, in order to thank all suppliers who worked for the brewery during the previous operating year. For more than twenty years, the title of “Supplier of the Year” has not been awarded to a capital machinery supplier. “The provision of the equipment within the tight timings required of the project, and of the timely and efficient manner in which the task was accomplished and the deadlines met”, states Thuthuka Nxumalo, General Manager of SAB Prospecton. The supply of the bottle washer has breached long-standing boundaries with SAB.

SAB is South Africa´s leading producer and distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and one of the nation´s largest manufacturing firms. The company operates seven breweries in South Africa with annual brewing capacities of 3.1 billion liters.

Sidel has been present for more than 30 years in South Africa and inaugurated its own subsidiary there in 2010. Now the Johannesburg-based company is the home-base to support all countries in Southern Africa, which is a growing market in all types of beverage businesses.
