During the Plastindia exhibition in New Dehli back in 2000, the company saw a growing PET beginers market with new manufacturers emerging from India and Asia. The company management felt the need to play an active role in India and decided to launch a manufacturing line for linear machines with a technology sourcing and upgrading. The plant was inaugurated in June 2001.

Chakan manufactures the “Synergy” range of machines. Sidel India has created 10 different types of machines since 2001 and has sold a total of 334 machines by June 2011. Blow moulding machines of the Synergy range built in India are currently in operation in more than 17 countries around the world. SR 05/6 is the latest fully automated stretch blow molding machine to be added to the Synergy portfolio speeding up to 7,200 bottles per hour. There are currently 55 employees working at the Chakan plant.

Today, Sidel operates in three locations in India. Besides the Chakan manufacturing plant, the company has two sales offices in Gurgaon and Mumbai serving the Indian market. Since India turned out to be one of the top four performers regarding unit packaging gains in 2010, Sidel is presently developing a strategy to further develop the market.

Sidel is the only company having designed PET blowers for all applications ranging from 25ml sizes up to as high as 25l. 80 per cent of Sidel India´s customers are regular customers. The company management views this as an expression of customer satisfaction and excellent customer relations.

Mr. Subba Bangera, Sidel India Managing Director, founder director in 1997, witnessed the market evolution in India, and especially the market evolving from single cavity SBO1 machines, and then to two cavities SBO2F machines. He saw the penetration of completion in this sector as well.

“The Indian market is mixer of high speed line requirement by Coke and Pepsi, low speed lines for local players. For one high speed line a need for five small lines are created and thus the model of linear blower adopted by Sidel India became a big success in India. India has seven mega cities with over five million urban population and 35 medium cities with population over one million. But what is important is that India has more than 500 towns and 650,000 villages, which will always look for small machines to suit the local requirement.

By being there to produce what the market wants we created this manufacturing set up, which today is Icon of Indian PET business for the excellent plant, training facilities and the talented team. The plant is ready to take the bigger challenges of the exponential growth of India beverage and non- beverage market. I am proud to be associated with the growth of this industry for last 17 years”, says Mr. Bangera.

*During the past ten years, Sidel India has built 370 blowing machines, 23 dumpers, one jam filler, filler parts and spindle chain parts for SBO Compact machines at Chakan plant. It has tested more than 1,000 bottles of different shapes and for different applications. Sidel India has trained more than 500 engineers and participated in several exhibitions.
