An inspirational day for African customers
Over 60 existing and potential customers, including Equator Bottlers, Hariss International, Highlands Mineral Water Co. Ltd., Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestlé Water, Victoria Juices and Delmonte, travelled from all over Africa to be part of the Value Creation Day in Nairobi Kenya.
Africa is a continent experiencing enormous development. With new cities and urban areas springing up to provide homes for a rapidly expanding population and the emergence of a strong middle class, the potential for business growth here is great. To help customers in the liquid packaging industry exploit this potential, Sidel invited them to spend a day looking at trends, developments and opportunities in this booming African market.
Bringing together industry professionals
Over 60 existing and potential customers, including Equator Bottlers, Hariss International, Highlands Mineral Water Co. Ltd., Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestlé Water, Victoria Juices and Delmonte, travelled from all over Africa to be part of the value Creation Day in Nairobi Kenya. During this one-day event, experts from Sidel, Sidel's African agent SBA and two customers gave presentations on themes ranging from industry trends to bottle design innovations and Matrix solutions.
Although Sidel operates globally, the value Creation Day was designed around local market needs and challenges. In the African markets, capacity, packaging design and lightweighting are just some of the opportunities in focus. In addition, African consumers demand competitive pricing, which puts resource savings and reduced production costs high on the agenda of bottling executives.
This local tailoring of the day's content was highly appreciated by all attendees. Talking about the concept of 'Total Cost of Ownership', Ashwin Padia, CEO of Highlands Mineral Water Co. Ltd said it was an eye opener when considering investments that will create additional value and help reduce operational costs. "I am sure we will consider Sidel as a potential supplier for our PET bottling needs, be it blowing or filling. Thanks for bringing Sidel closer to the market," he said.
From the customer perspective
Two customers, Hariss International and Equators Bottling, well established in Uganda and Kenya respectively, provided case stories about their businesses. They shared their experiences and talked frankly about how their partnership with Sidel has helped them overcome their production challenges and the results they have achieved. With the establishment of the new regional Sidel headquarters in Dubai, Sidel is committed to the continued support of its customers located in the Greater Middle East and Africa regions. In many ways both markets are at a similar level of maturity with customers facing similar challenges. This allows Sidel to focus its 150 years of expertise on helping customers in the region overcome their business challenges with complete line solutions across PET, glass, can and other product lines.
