Flexible PET packaging line for Unibrew
Danish group simplifies changeover using silos cleverly positioned between machines
Unibrew selected Sidel as the partner to provide a complete line (100% Sidel, including the engineering) for packaging soft drinks and still, carbonated and flavoured carbonated water in PET. From the start, the key to this project was flexibility; the possibility to bottle and package a wide range of brands in multiple formats.
As well as being the second largest beer producer in Scandinavia, Unibrew has a product profile that ranges from soft drinks to malt-based beverages. The Danish group required multiple formats for their Pepsi, Egekilde, Faxe Kondi, Mirinda, Nikoline mineral water in 0.5, 0.7, 1.5 and 1L bottles with flat and sports caps. It was the first PET line inside the Faxe brewery and excellent results were apparent as soon as production was underway.
- SBO 14 blow moulder
- Mixer, rinser, filler, CIP ML
- Rollquattro labeller
- 3 x Robo-Kombi
- Four shuttles on a track
- Pallet wrappers, pallet conveyors
- Subcontracted pallet labeller
The line, with 25,600 bph for the 2L format, was designed in order to optimise format changeover and overall efficiency. In light of the changes, Sidel also proposed placing two silos between the blow moulder and the filler. With a volume of 48 cubic metres each and a storage capacity of 37,000 bottles in the 0.5L format, the silos are used to maintain a constant supply to the filler during the mould change on the blow moulder. The end of line consists of a fully automated, robotised palletising island that can handle single bottles of different sizes, packs (3x2 and 6x4), plastic trays, on europallets, half pallets and quarter pallets.
